Major Flood Warning for the Peel and Namoi Rivers

MAJOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT GUNNEDAH OVERNIGHT SUNDAY INTO MONDAY

TAMWORTH LIKELY TO PEAK AROUND THE MAJOR FLOOD LEVEL SUNDAY MORNING

Moderate to heavy rainfall has been observed in the Peel and Namoi catchment during Saturday. Rainfall has eased since early Sunday morning.

Along the Peel River, small renewed rises are occurring and the river level at Tamworth is likely to peak around the major flood level Sunday morning.

Further downstream, flood waters from the Peel, Upper Namoi and Mooki Rivers and its tributaries may cause major flooding at Gunnedah overnight Sunday into Monday. Minor flooding is likely at Boggabri early Monday morning.

Peel River

Major peak is likely at Tamworth Sunday morning.

Namoi River

Major flooding may occur at Gunnedah. Minor flooding is likely at Boggabri.
